Will Google, Nest and an SDK finally create the internet of things?

The term "internet of things" has been flying around for the past two or so years and has become a pretty popular term for everything, everywhere becoming connected.. I'm pretty sure Cisco coined the term, but don't quote me on it.

As the typical connected camps continue to create solutions to connect homes, toasters, wine making machines (I bought one) and everything in between, we might just start to see something big happen very soon.

It might have gone under the radar for some, but Google recently purchased Nest for a cool $3.2 billion. Nest has a pretty cool set of home connected products (Thermostat, Smoke + CO Alarm, etc) that let you control, manage and receive alerts via the internet with a smartphone, tablet or PC.  With the Nest purchase and the sale of the Moto X handheld division to Lenovo, I think we are about to see Google take on a much bigger market than just handhelds over the next few weeks when they release the recently announced (SXSW conference) SDK for wearable’s.

Just think of it...  A super slim Android Kernel (like the one running in Chromecast), an embedded SDK for communicating with all things digital and a line of products released for the home and business connecting everything to everyone – a real triple threat…

Want to see Google trump Apple's CarPlay and take things to not only the next level, but out of this world....

Want to see manufacturers line up like you have never seen before building products and developing software with the SDK that will make Google Glass look so 80's....

Let's see if I'm a fortune teller..    Only time will tell....
